关于 Hamad International Airport
Hamad International Airport is the sole international airport of Qatar, located approximately 15 kilometers southeast of central Doha. The airport opened in 2014, replacing the older Doha International Airport, and was named after the father of Qatar's ruling Emir. Hamad International handles over 45 million passengers annually and was designed as the flagship hub for Qatar Airways, one of the world's most highly rated airlines. The airport's distinctive terminal building, designed by HOK Architects, features a sweeping curved roof and a central concourse with a massive bronze sculpture of a teddy bear by Swiss artist Urs Fischer. The airport covers approximately 29 square kilometers, making it one of the largest airports by land area in the Middle East. Hamad International has won the Skytrax World's Best Airport award multiple times and is celebrated for its premium lounges, including the Al Mourjan Business Lounge, fine dining, and an indoor tropical garden. The airport operates two parallel runways and underwent a significant expansion completed in 2022 that increased capacity to over 58 million passengers per year. Qatar Airways uses the airport to connect passengers from over 160 destinations worldwide, with particularly strong connections between Europe, the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Oceania. The airport played a central role during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, handling unprecedented passenger volumes as millions of fans traveled to Qatar.
