About Incheon International Airport

Incheon International Airport is the primary airport serving Seoul, South Korea, and one of the largest and busiest airports in Asia. Located on Yeongjong Island, approximately 48 kilometers west of central Seoul, the airport opened in 2001 to replace the older Gimpo International Airport as the country's main international gateway. Incheon handles over 71 million passengers annually and has been repeatedly named the best airport in the world by multiple organizations, including Airports Council International. The airport features two terminals: Terminal 1 serves the majority of international carriers, while Terminal 2, which opened in 2018, is used by Korean Air, Delta Air Lines, and other SkyTeam alliance members. Incheon is the hub for Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, and also serves as a base for several low-cost carriers including Jin Air and T'way Air. The airport is renowned for its efficiency, cultural experiences, and passenger amenities, including a traditional Korean culture center, an ice skating rink, a casino, and extensive duty-free shopping that is among the largest in the world. The AREX Airport Railroad Express train connects the airport to Seoul Station in 43 minutes nonstop. Incheon's geographic position in Northeast Asia gives it a natural advantage as a transfer hub, with most major cities in China, Japan, and Southeast Asia within a three-to-five-hour flight radius. The airport operates four runways and also ranks among the top five cargo airports globally.
