passengers
A Boeing 747 carried 1,088 people during an emergency evacuation flight from Ethiopia to Israel in 1991.
Explanation
During Operation Solomon in May 1991, El Al and the Israeli Air Force evacuated Ethiopian Jews to Israel. One Boeing 747-200 carried 1,088 passengers, far exceeding the aircraft's normal capacity of around 400. Seats had been removed to maximize space, and two babies were born during the flight. The operation airlifted over 14,000 people in 36 hours.
