The 1:50 ratio is set by most aviation authorities including the FAA and EASA. It ensures enough crew to manage emergency evacuations within 90 seconds. Most full-service airlines staff well above the minimum for customer service. A Boeing 777 with 300 seats requires at least 6 flight attendants, but airlines typically operate with 10-12 for service quality.
