关于 Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport
Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport is the primary airport serving Barcelona and the Catalonia region of Spain. Located 12 kilometers southwest of the city center in the municipalities of El Prat de Llobregat, Viladecans, and Sant Boi de Llobregat, the airport opened in 1918 and has become the second-busiest airport in Spain. BCN handles approximately 52 million passengers per year across two terminals. Terminal 1, designed by Ricardo Bofill, opened in 2009 and serves the majority of airlines, while Terminal 2 handles low-cost carriers including Ryanair. The airport serves as a base for Vueling Airlines, which operates a large share of domestic and European flights. Barcelona-El Prat is connected to the city center by Metro Line L9 Sud, the Aerobus express shuttle, the RENFE commuter rail, and regular bus services. The airport operates three runways in a cross configuration. Barcelona's popularity as a business and leisure destination drives strong demand, particularly from European short-haul markets and transatlantic routes. The airport also serves as a key gateway for cruise passengers connecting to Mediterranean itineraries. Long-term expansion plans have been proposed to increase terminal capacity and add a third runway to meet projected growth in passenger traffic.
