关于 Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport
Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, commonly known as Fiumicino, is the primary international airport of Rome and the busiest airport in Italy. Located in Fiumicino, approximately 35 kilometers southwest of Rome's city center, FCO opened in 1961 to replace the aging Ciampino Airport as Rome's main commercial facility. The airport handles over 43 million passengers annually across four terminals, with Terminal 3 being the main international departures facility. A new boarding area, Area E, opened recently as part of an ongoing expansion and modernization program. Fiumicino serves as the primary hub for ITA Airways, Italy's national carrier, and hosts operations from major European and international airlines. The Leonardo Express train provides a direct nonstop rail connection between the airport and Roma Termini station in approximately 32 minutes, while the FL1 regional train serves additional stations throughout the metropolitan area. The airport operates four runways and has undergone significant upgrades in recent years, including terminal renovations that have earned it recognition for improved passenger experience. FCO serves as a gateway for both business travelers and the millions of tourists who visit Rome annually, with strong route networks to European, North African, Middle Eastern, and North American destinations.
