1,000-2,000
flight hours between strikes
Commercial aircraft are struck by lightning approximately once every 1,000 to 2,000 flight hours, yet lightning has not caused a crash since 1967.
说明
Aircraft are designed to conduct lightning safely through the fuselage and out the other side without damaging critical systems. The aluminum skin acts as a Faraday cage, and modern composite structures include conductive mesh for the same purpose. Fuel systems are specifically engineered to prevent sparks from reaching fuel vapors. The last US crash attributed to lightning was Pan Am Flight 214 in 1963.
