Direct aviation employment includes airline staff, airport workers, air traffic controllers, aircraft manufacturers, and maintenance crews. The much larger indirect figure accounts for tourism, supply chain jobs, and spending by aviation employees. Aviation supports approximately 4.1% of global GDP when considering all economic linkages.
