Fastest Commercial Aircraft

2.04

Mach

The Concorde cruised at Mach 2.04, or about 2,180 km/h, crossing the Atlantic in under 3.5 hours.

Explanation

The Concorde operated from 1976 to 2003, serving routes between London, Paris, New York, and a few other cities. Its supersonic speed came at the cost of extremely high fuel consumption and noise, limiting it to overwater routes. Only 20 aircraft were built, operated by British Airways and Air France. No commercial aircraft has matched its speed since retirement.
