Aéroport avec une Piste sur la Plage

runways on sand

Barra Airport in Scotland's Outer Hebrides is the only airport in the world where scheduled flights use a beach as the runway.

Explication

Three runway strips are marked on the tidal sand flat of Traigh Mhor beach, and flight schedules are dictated by the tides. When the tide comes in, the runways are submerged underwater. Twin Otter aircraft operated by Loganair serve the route from Glasgow. The airport is a popular attraction for aviation enthusiasts and has been in operation since 1936.
