Chicago O'Hare International Airport has 8 runways, the most of any commercial airport in the world.

O'Hare's complex runway system includes four parallel pairs oriented in different directions, allowing the airport to handle simultaneous arrivals and departures in varied wind conditions. The configuration was the result of a multi-billion-dollar modernization program completed in phases between 2005 and 2021 that realigned several runways to reduce delays.
