Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum number of airports I can add?
You can add up to 10 airports in a single itinerary. For most trip planning purposes, 3-6 stops is typical. Each stop is displayed on the map with a color-coded marker and letter label.
Can I create a round-trip itinerary?
Yes. Simply add your starting airport as the last stop to complete the loop. The calculator will compute the return leg distance and time, and the map will show the complete circuit.
Does the total time include layovers between flights?
No, the total time shown is the sum of estimated flight times only. It does not include layover, connection, or overnight time between flights. Add your own layover estimates to the total for a realistic trip duration.
How do I find the most efficient order for my stops?
Reorder your airports and watch the total distance change. As a general rule, try to arrange stops so you travel in one direction rather than backtracking. The map visualization makes it easy to spot inefficient routing.

Methodology

Each leg's distance is calculated using the Haversine formula between consecutive airports. Flight times for each leg use the same speed model as the Flight Time Estimator: 750 km/h for short-haul, 830 km/h for medium-haul, and 870 km/h for long-haul segments, plus 30 minutes per leg for ground procedures. Total journey statistics sum all individual legs. The interactive map draws great-circle arcs for each segment.
