1976
year
The Concorde began scheduled supersonic passenger service on January 21, 1976, simultaneously from London and Paris.
Explication
British Airways flew London to Bahrain while Air France flew Paris to Rio de Janeiro via Dakar on the same day. Transatlantic supersonic service to Washington and New York followed later that year. The Concorde operated for 27 years before retiring in 2003, following a fatal crash in 2000, declining demand, and rising maintenance costs.
