Country with the Most Airports

19,700+

airports

The United States has over 19,700 airports, more than any other country by a wide margin.

Explanation

The count includes everything from major international hubs to small private grass strips. About 500 of these airports have scheduled commercial service, while the rest serve general aviation, military, or private use. Brazil ranks second with roughly 4,000 airports, illustrating the enormous gap. The density reflects the country's size and the historical role of general aviation in American transportation.
