关于 Addis Ababa Bole International Airport
Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is the main international airport serving Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, and the busiest airport in East Africa. Located in the Bole district, approximately 6 kilometers southeast of the city center, the airport was first established in the 1960s and has undergone multiple expansions to accommodate growing traffic. ADD handles over 14 million passengers annually and serves as the primary hub for Ethiopian Airlines, which has grown to become Africa's largest airline by passengers carried, fleet size, and revenue. Ethiopian Airlines' rapid expansion has transformed Addis Ababa into a major connecting point for travel between Africa and the rest of the world, with extensive route networks spanning five continents. The airport's terminal facilities were significantly expanded with a new passenger terminal completed in 2019, increasing capacity to 22 million passengers per year. The new terminal features modern amenities and is designed to position Addis Ababa as a competitive hub alongside Middle Eastern airports for connecting traffic between Asia and Africa. Bole International operates two runways. Ground transportation is primarily by taxi and bus, as the city does not yet have a direct rail connection to the airport, though the Addis Ababa Light Rail Transit system has stops nearby. Addis Ababa's status as the headquarters of the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa adds to the airport's importance as a diplomatic and commercial gateway to the continent.
